The Indian Cricket Team

The current Indian Team is on a high, with Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma Leading the attack with the ball and Sehwag and Gambhir with the bat.

This is what everyone sees. What i see is the other side of the coin I see a Bunch of Powerful Stroke makers who when the pitches assist bounce and in swinging conditions can be rolled over like a bunch of cards and also a couple of overworked spearhead bowlers (Zaheer and Ishant) who play all three versions of the game.

We are all jubiliant about our series victory in NZ but one should notice that all the pitches but for the last one were not typical Kiwi wickets with not enough grass to assists the fast bowlers. One can attribute the change in pitches to the great Indian fast bowling duo and the lack of quality seamers as far as the Kiwi team is concerned, but i think the defeat in the final ODI has exposed that our batsmen dont need quality seamers to collapse when the conditions are seam friendly and also that an overworked Zaheer or Ishant can be tackled on such wickets with relative ease.

Expect the Test wickets to be more like the last one.

In the Test series I wont be surprised if Zaheer and Ishant miss a game or two. I dont think the Indian pace attack is fit enough to play all three forms of the game. Ishant has already faced an injury problem. The kiwis i am sure will have fingers crossed.

No fast bowler, or Wicket keeper for that matter should play all three versions of the game. MS Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma should seriously consider playing only two forms. Its best all four of the quit the T20 version. I dont see the Indian team weaking with the likes of Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvi, Raina, Rohit, The Pathans, Karthik, Ojha, Praveen and Munaf still there.

All said and done like every Indian Fan I wish and pray i am wrong; that Zaheer and Ishnat prove their fitness and the batsmen show some grit and perform well on seam friendly conditions.

Wishing the Indian Team all the best. I hope and pray Sachin, Rahul and Laxman have pleasent memories of a series which might be their last in NZ.
