Twenty20 Fans in for a Treat.....

I was watching the Twenty20 Big Bash 2009 and realized that the quality of cricket is really good and the crowd turnout also was pretty decent. This would mean that the Australian Cricketers have their own domestic version of IPL which would get global viewership with international Twenty20 stars like Ross Taylor, Shahid Afridi, Kiron Polard Naved-ul-Hassan also participating in it.

The fact that there are not too many domestic teams in Australia really helps as the quality of local players is also very good and each team, apart from the current stars, would have at least 3 players who at some point of time would have represented Australia at the highest level. For eg. David Hussey, Tim Paine, Jason Krejza, Brad Hodge, Shaun Tait, A. McDonald, James Hopes etc. In addition quite a few players would be known thanks to their stints in IPL somebody like a Quiney, Ronchi, Harris, Carseldine will also be known to the viewers.

To add to the positives is the lush green outfield and the really good Australian tracks which are a real treat to the eyes...

Now James Sutherland, the chief executive of Cricket Australia has announced that the Big Bash will not clash with international season in future. This would mean the Stars of Australia would be available for The Big Bash in 2010.

Well all you Twenty20 Cricket Fans are in for a Treat next year as the IPL and The Big Bash are the two tournaments to watch out for.

Enjoy your Cricket............

Cricket Tips

I feel in order to ensure that good players get decent exposure to international cricket, either or a combination of the following steps can be taken

1. Allow a 12 Player team where the 12th player will not be allowed to Bat. That way the team can play a specialist bowler who need not be good batsman. Somebody like a McGrath, Walsh etc. for that matter a specialist fielder or wicket keeper as well.

2. Instruct the Test playing Boards to chose a pool of top 30 players at the beginning of the season and allow non Test playing nations to contract two from the players not on the list of 30 i.e. excluding the 30. In this way somebody like a Brad Hodge, Sridharan Sriram, Hemang Badani, Boeta Dippanar etc. will still be able to play international cricket. The other advantage would be the quality of cricket will enhance. A team like Zimbabwe who has a decent bowling line up but is struggling with their batting can contract 2 batsmen.

3. Introduce a rest of the world test team in which best players selected from non test playing nations can team up to play a couple of games against the test playing nations. For example a combination of Netherlands, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Scotland could be a decent side. That way the temperament of these players will improve. ICC should make the team based on a Ranking system.

4. In limited overs internationals one bowler should be allowed to ball a few overs more than 10 for e.g. 12 overs. Some incentive to the bowlers in the current batsman friendly system.

Friendship is a treasure of immense value. a small poem in dedication of Friendship...

We often tend to forget the role that a teacher plays in our life. Here i present a poem dedicated to my Teachers
